Hello, everybody! Alicia Schwede here, bringing you another fun and festive floral arrangement. This one is perfect for the DIY crowd—whether you’re looking to create something special for your home or celebrate the holidays. This is for you!

I have my nice little white vase here on my lazy Susan, and I’m starting with variegated mini pittosporum, also called Italian mini pittosporum. I’m using it as the base of the arrangement. Always make sure to clean the bottom of your stems and give them a fresh cut. This allows the stems to take up fresh water and last longer. I’m taking the greenery and laying it around the rim of the vase.

There are no mechanics in this vase. Mechanics, in floral terms, are things like tape grids or chicken wire used to prepare a container. I want to keep this arrangement simple for you DIYers—perfect for those in a rush during the holidays. You can order flowers from Fabulous Florals and arrange them yourself. This setup is quick and easy!

Make sure there’s no greenery on the inside of the vase. I’m popping this variegated greenery all around the rim, filling it up. It creates a nice, fun base that will work perfectly for this particular arrangement. I’m going for a winter white look. I’ve got my compost bin next to me, so I’m brushing off any clippings into it.

Next, I’m adding white tulips. The thing with tulips is that you want to remove the leaves from the bottom of the stems. Just peel them off and hold the tulip up to see how much stem you need to cut. I cut about 3 inches. Then, I’m laying them into the vase. Tulips will continue to grow even after they’re arranged—by tomorrow morning, you’ll see your arrangement has grown! I think of it as tulips having “personality”—they’re fun, always moving toward the light.

I’m using one bunch of tulips, which contains 10 stems—perfect for this arrangement. The greenery, or mini pittosporum, creates a natural grid that supports the flowers. Nothing fancy here; we’re just DIYing for our homes. As someone who’s been a florist for 20 years, I love creating beautiful, intricate arrangements, but I also know that many people enjoy arranging flowers themselves. This is a quick, fun, and easy option for everyone.

Now, I’m adding ginestra. Let me show you up close—this is ginestra. It has a unique scent and adds a fun texture to the tulip arrangement. Since this is a winter arrangement, the ginestra almost looks like a bit of frost. It’s perfect for the DIY crowd—easy, festive, and great for centerpieces. You could make several of these to place down a table, on end tables, or in the living room.

Each stem of ginestra is quite large, so I’m cutting it down into sections and mixing it between the tulips and greenery. This arrangement is fun for kids home during Christmas break—they’ll enjoy helping out and being creative.

To finish, I’m adding cedar. This is my fourth element. Cedar has a wonderful wintergreen scent, and I’m using it around the outside and adding a bit of height in the center. It’s rainy and chilly here in Washington today, so this arrangement feels very fitting for the season. I’m using about one-third of a bunch of cedar from Fabulous Florals—cedar goes a long way! I also have plenty of leftover ginestra, so you could make at least two or three centerpieces with one bunch, depending on the size of your arrangements.

This easy-peasy tulip arrangement has four ingredients: variegated mini pittosporum, 10 white tulips, about one-third of a bunch of ginestra, and three stems of cedar. Super simple, and you can make several to decorate your whole house.

I hope this gives you some good holiday ideas. Thanks, and happy arranging!
