Hello, Alicia Schwede here! Thrilled to share a quick DIY holiday arrangement with you. It takes just three floral materials to create, and anyone can do it.
I’ve filled a large vase with fresh water—no additives or mechanics, just clean water. Let’s get started!
Step 1: Add Ilex Berries
Fabulous Florals sent over these stunning ilex berries. Each stem is almost 3 feet tall, with five stems per bunch. Start by cleaning off the bottom of the stem to remove any offshoots—this keeps the vase clear. Give the stem a fresh cut and place it in the vase, leaning against the side. Repeat with two more stems to create a tripod arrangement. Trim off any unwanted side shoots, saving them for another project.
Step 2: Add White Hydrangeas
These hydrangeas, which arrived yesterday, were given a good drink by submerging them fully in water. Hold the stems up to measure the desired length, then cut them at a 45-degree angle. For extra water absorption, make a perpendicular cut into the stem. Hydrangeas are very thirsty, so exposing more of the stem helps them drink. Place the stems around the base of the arrangement, spacing them evenly. Use about 6-7 stems to fill in the base, adding one in the center for balance.
Step 3: Add Cedar
Fabulous Florals also provided gorgeous cedar to complete the arrangement. Trim the stems to avoid floating pieces in the water. Add cedar around the base for texture and a subtle winter fragrance. You can save the scraps for other decorations, like candles or table accents. The cedar enhances the arrangement with a seasonal scent that’s not overpowering.
Final Touches
This arrangement uses three simple ingredients: red ilex berries (3 stems), white hydrangeas (7 stems), and half a bunch of cedar. It’s an elegant, quick, and festive centerpiece perfect for a kitchen island, entryway, or buffet table. It takes less than 10 minutes to assemble but leaves a lasting impression.

Hello, Alicia Schwede here, bringing you another three-ingredient floral arrangement—perfect for anyone who wants to add a little holiday flair to their home decor. Today, I’m using a cute little tin with a holly design on it. I filled it with fresh water, and we’re going to create a festive arrangement using just three floral ingredients.
First, I have some foliage called variegated mini pit. This is one of my favorites to work with, especially during the holidays. Hold a stem up to your container to measure the desired length, trim accordingly, and remove any leaves that would be submerged in water. This prevents bacteria growth and keeps the arrangement clean. Add the greenery to the container, trimming as needed, and use about half a bunch to create a nice, full base.
Next, I’m adding red roses called Freedom roses. These are easy to clean, with minimal thorns and leaves. Measure each stem against your arrangement, cut at a 45-degree angle, and insert them into the container. A lazy Susan is helpful for evenly distributing the roses as you work. Start with four roses around the base, then add another layer slightly higher, finishing with one rose in the center. I’ve used 12 roses for this arrangement, leaving plenty for a second arrangement if needed. Roses typically come in bunches of 25 stems.
Finally, I’m adding my third ingredient: holly. Holly can be a bit prickly, so save it for last. Add the stems around the arrangement, focusing on the berries for a festive touch. I used one bunch of holly with five stems. If you’re making two arrangements, plan for two bunches of holly, along with one bunch each of mini pit and roses. Trim any extra greenery from the holly stems and tuck it into the arrangement for a pop of emerald green.
In just five minutes, you have a beautiful, simple arrangement perfect for your holiday table. This would be adorable as part of a centerpiece display down a long dining table. It’s quick, easy, and anyone can do it!
Thanks for watching—happy arranging!
Bonus Holiday Centerpiece Instructions from Fabulous Florals for a Stunning Seasonal Centerpiece
Step-by-Step Guide to Your Holiday Centerpiece
Prepare Your Base:
Start with a low, wide vase or a decorative bowl. Use floral foam for added stability and soak it thoroughly in water.
Build the Greenery Foundation:
Begin by inserting stems from the mixed evergreen bouquet, Blueberry Cedar, and Port Orford Cedar. These provide a lush, fragrant base to build upon.
Add Texture with Foliage:
Incorporate Seeded Eucalyptus, Silver Queen Pitt, and Veggie Rose Green Holly throughout the arrangement. Let some stems cascade naturally for a flowing, organic look.
Place Your Feature Blooms:
Add white hydrangeas to create a voluminous focal point. Follow with Freedom Roses and white double tulips, spacing them evenly for balance.
Highlight with Accents:
Insert sprigs of Red Ilex Berries and white Ginestra to add festive pops of color and delicate texture.
Add Seasonal Charm:
Tuck in Paperwhite Narcissus and green hellebores for a seasonal touch that softens the overall design.
Finishing Touch:
Add Flannel Flowers as a whimsical accent, ensuring they peek through the other blooms for visual interest.
Check for Balance:
Step back and assess your arrangement. Adjust any elements for symmetry and flow.
Pro Tip: Keep It Fresh
To ensure your centerpiece stays fresh throughout the holiday season, mist it daily and replace water in the vase or foam every few days. Keep it away from direct heat or sunlight.
